The Remote Assessment
01.06.2020
In May 2020, the Independent Expert Physicometallurgical Laboratory (IEPL) successfully passed the re-assessment procedure by US International Accreditation Service (IAS) for compliance with the requirements of the new ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard.
Due to the global spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus, the re-assessment was performed via remote/virtual connection for the first time in the laboratory's history. Technical specialists set up an on-line video connection between Moscow (IEPL) and California (IAS), during which the laboratory demonstrated the main types of tests according to its accreditation, conducted a review of test facilities, presented technical records and answered questions from the IAS expert.
According to Mr. Erenburg, the IAS expert: "IEPL demonstrated compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 and related IAS and ILAC policies."
Based on the results of the re-assessment, IAS decided to continue the IEPL accreditation.
For reference: IEPL is the only Russian laboratory accredited by the US International Accreditation Service (IAS). The US International Accreditation Service (IAS) is a signatory to the Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRA) of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 "General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories" - is the main international standard for laboratory accreditation.
